AI Disclaimer

Effective: 1 July 2026Last Updated: 15 July 2026Version: 1.1

Plain English Summary

Humanit uses AI to assist with writing and analysis. AI outputs may contain errors - always review before use. AI detector results are probabilistic estimates, not proof of authorship. Originality and AI-likelihood scores are estimates, not proof. AI is a tool to support, not replace, human judgement.

AI-Generated Content

Humanit uses artificial intelligence and machine learning models to provide writing assistance, text analysis, and originality checking.

Outputs, suggestions, and analyses produced by Humanit's AI tools are generated by probabilistic models and should be treated as drafts or reference points - not as final, authoritative, or professionally certified content.

Accuracy and Reliability

AI-generated content is inherently probabilistic. Outputs may contain factual errors, omissions, stylistic inconsistencies, or contextually inappropriate suggestions.

Humanit does not warrant that any output is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

You should always review, edit, and verify AI outputs before relying on them.

Not Professional Advice

AI outputs from Humanit are not legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.

• Legal decisions: Consult a qualified legal professional.

• Medical decisions: Consult a qualified healthcare provider.

• Financial decisions: Consult a qualified financial advisor.

• Academic decisions: Verify for accuracy, originality, and compliance with institutional policies.

You remain responsible for all decisions made based on or influenced by Humanit's AI outputs.

Originality and AI-Likelihood Scores Are Estimates

Authenticity scores, AI-likelihood percentages, plagiarism indicators, and academic readiness assessments are analytical estimates based on pattern recognition and statistical modelling.

These indicators are not definitive proof. They may produce false positives or false negatives.

Different detection tools use different methodologies and may produce different results on the same text. Humanit's indicators should not be treated as conclusive evidence.

User Responsibility

You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all outputs before use.

You are responsible for ensuring your use of Humanit complies with applicable laws, institutional policies, and ethical standards.

Humanit is designed to improve writing, not to facilitate deception or academic dishonesty.

Third-Party AI Providers

Humanit uses third-party AI service providers to process text. These providers process your text temporarily to generate outputs.

Providers are contractually bound to process data only for fulfilling our requests and must not retain your data for their own purposes.

Once data is transmitted to a third-party provider, it is subject to that provider's own privacy and security policies.

AI Writing Detector - Limitations and Honest Labelling

The Humanit AI Writing Detector analyses writing patterns and produces an estimate of whether text appears human-written, AI-assisted, AI-generated, mixed or inconclusive.

1. AI detector results are probabilistic. They are based on statistical pattern recognition, not on definitive proof of how text was produced.

2. False positives and false negatives can occur. Human-written text may be flagged as AI-generated, and AI-generated text may be flagged as human-written.

3. Results are not proof of authorship. A classification of 'likely AI-generated' does not prove that a specific person used AI, and a classification of 'likely human-written' does not prove that AI was not used.

4. Results must not be the sole basis for academic, employment, legal or disciplinary decisions. Any action taken on the basis of AI detector results should include additional evidence and human review.

5. Human review is required for important decisions. A qualified person must review the full context, the original text, and any other relevant evidence before making a decision that affects someone's academic standing, employment, legal rights or disciplinary record.

6. Humanit is not affiliated with Turnitin. We are an independent service. Turnitin is a registered trademark of its respective owner.

7. Humanit does not provide an official Turnitin result. If your institution requires a Turnitin similarity or AI report, you must obtain it directly through your institution's Turnitin subscription.

8. Humanit does not guarantee how another detection service will score the same text. Different detectors use different methodologies, training data and thresholds. The same text may receive a different classification from another service.

9. Guest text is processed transiently. When you use the detector without signing in, your text is processed in memory to produce the result and is not permanently stored.

10. Text is not saved unless an authenticated user explicitly chooses to save a report. The detector does not auto-save. Saving is a deliberate action available only to signed-in users.

11. Submitted writing is not used to train models unless separate, informed and explicit consent is obtained. We do not use your detector submissions for model training.

12. Provider services may process submitted text only for the requested analysis. Third-party providers engaged by Humanit are contractually bound to process text solely for the purpose of producing the detector result, not for their own purposes.

13. Saved detector reports can be deleted by the user. Signed-in users can delete any saved report from the Detector Reports page at any time. Deletion is permanent.

14. Humanit does not encourage academic misconduct. The detector is provided as an analytical tool to understand writing patterns, not to facilitate deception or misrepresentation.

15. Humanit should not be used to falsely represent authorship. You must not use the detector to select or refine text in a way that misrepresents AI-generated work as entirely your own original work where that would violate your institution's policies.
